To keep the media as well as athletes, coaches, volunteers, friends and family well informed, Special Olympics Arizona offers online news and press resources. This includes news releases, media kits, general message, language guide and logos.
Public awareness is an important part of our mission at Special Olympics Arizona. It's not only imperative to get our message to the public, but also to send the correct message. Awareness is the building block necessary for inclusion and for the continued growth and success of programs for the athletes. Thank you for helping us spread our message of acceptance and empowerment.
If you are representing Special Olympics Arizona and are unsure of the current terms to use in relation to our movement or people with disabilities, please read the 'Language Guide', included in our media kit.
Each piece of media coverage we receive should include the following information along with the featured story & event:
What is Special Olympics Arizona doing?
Special Olympics Arizona's goal is to empower the over 180,000 Arizonans with intellectual disabilities to be healthy, productive, and respected members of society through our year-round sports training, competitions, and support programs.
What does Special Olympics Arizona need?
1. Donors to fund athletes' participation.
2. Volunteers to coach athletes and manage events.
3. Athletes to participate in traditional and unified sports programs.
Why does Special Olympics Arizona need donors & sponsors?
Special Olympics Arizona has grown to 9,000+ athletes, 24 sports, 172 year-round competitions, and multiple support programs. All of our programs are provided at no cost to our 9,000+ athletes. Therefore we rely heavily on our sponsors to provide funding, in-kind donations, and volunteers.
